Week 9 NFL Picks; Rams play host to Titans on SNF; Battle of Ohio for AFC North Positioning

Updated: Nov 7

Covid-19 has struck it's ugly head again and it just will not go away. A.J. Green, Aaron Rodgers, Noah Fant, Saquon Barkley, and Xavier McKinney have all tested positive for the virus and look to be out for Sunday. Fans of the NFL were robbed of a Mahomes-Rodgers showdown in Kansas City this week. I'm sad. Odell Beckham Jr. has been excused from the Browns practice the past two days after a series of social media shares from his father, which showed Odell being open and Baker Mayfield not connecting with his son. Things are not great in Cleveland right now, but that all could change with a victory over AFC North foe Cincinnati on Sunday. Heroic efforts from backup quarterbacks in Week 8 were the highlight of the season so far. Mike White led the Jets to a victory over the Bengals at home. Trevor Siemian stepped in after Jameis Winston went down (Season ending injury) and led the Saints to a victory over the Bucs. Finally, Cooper Rush helped Dallas to a late victory over the Vikings on Sunday night. I'd be remised to leave out the loss of Derrick Henry for the season and Calvin Ridley stepping away from football to take care of his mental health. We here at The Cut wish a strong and speedy recover to both these guys.

Week 9 showcases a battle between Houston and Miami. All kidding aside, New England travels to Carolina in a game between 4-4 teams, with the winner headed into the wild-card hunt. The Raiders will look to get a win in New Jersey as they take on the Giants, in what has been another emotional week for Las Vegas. Derek Carr is the perfect quarterback to lead this team through one of the most tumultuous seasons in recent memory. Sitting at 5-2, this feels like a game that could mean a lot going forward. Jordan Love gets the nod against the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. He will get an opportunity to show what he can do over the next week or two. I'm excited to see what he can do and I'm sure the Packers management will be watching closely as well.

Find out who The Cut contributors like in this week's games, as they now hold a 63% winning percentage after Adam, Brandon, Randy, and Christian stunk up the joint in Week 8.
